Education and Community Events

August 17, 2024
Join us for a day of arts and wellness filled with poetry, music, theater, dance and virtual reality experiences that connect the mind, body and spirit. The day will feature performances, presentations and hands-on workshops led by Miami artists and art therapists. The community will be encouraged to connect, self-express, meditate, dance and practice joy. Art + Mind Day will focus on the power of the arts to heal and restore. The Arsht Center will spotlight the vital role of the arts to positively affect individual and community well-being.

September 2024
Kitty Hawk launched in 2017 and is a live theater performance and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) initiative that aims to educate all 25,000 seventh graders in Miami-Dade County Public Schools about the Wright brothers’ world-changing discovery of flight. Kitty Hawk sparks creative thinking and equips middle school teachers to reach beyond traditional teaching methods to improve STEAM learning in the classroom.

October 2024
The Busy Bees’ Great Adventure was dreamed up to spark inspiration toward responsible environmental citizenship. The climate crisis is having a negative impact on the bee population, so The Busy Bees get real, face the problem and use their creativity and music to encourage water preservation, energy efficiency and sustainable consumption.

Beyond the Stage

This July, we celebrate Disability Awareness Month and the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. At the Arsht Center, we believe the arts should be enjoyed by everyone. Discover the ways we’re creating an inclusive experience for our guests. Watch this video and learn more at arshtcenter.org/accessibility.

The Arsht Center announced a $2.5 million gift from the Miami-based Green Family Foundation Trust to establish and endow the Dorothea Green Chair of Education and Community Engagement. This endowed chair position, a first of its kind at a performing arts center in the U.S., provides long-term financial support for Arsht Center education and community engagement initiatives, including free shows for Miami-Dade County Public School students, pop-up neighborhood performances, programs for people with disabilities and more. The announcement took place at a ceremony in the Dorothea Green Theater of the Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House in April 2024.

The Arsht Center is proud to continue fulfilling its mission to bring the arts directly to YOU for free at various locations throughout the South Florida community. Here’s a look at the fun, and we look forward to welcoming everyone at the next event this season.
